I see only basic stuff like greetings on net….I feel you have to take up a course if u have to learn the language well…

Could you help me translate these sentences? I have a book on French Verbs (it’s the Barron’s 501 French Verbs, sixth edition), and they are examples of sentences using the verb “amener.” Here are the sentences.
Aujourd’hui ma mere a amene ma petite soeur chez la dentiste. Quand elles sont entrees chez lui, le dentiste leur a demande:—Quel bon vent vous amene ici?
I know what most of the individual words mean, but I am having trouble putting them all together to decide what this actually means. If anyone could help, that would be great.
And I’m probably going to have to break down and either take a French class or purchase some good instructional software if I’m really going to get a grasp of this.
Thanks.

1. What is it?
2. Is it required?
3. What are the other options?
4. Do you enjoy it?
The reason is that my French, English, and Italian are fluent and I really need to fluent another language before I finish college. My Russian is OK and my Mandarin Chinese is somewhat legible. What do you think?

My native Lanuage is English & I want to learn French, German OR Russian Language. What will be the best source to do so? The content should have material to enable me to: READ, WRITE & SPEAK the language. (Some audio components shall be advantageous helping in developing pronunciation skils).
the tutes should be from English to these languages!
please recommend Links to sites or name of some good books for them.

I’d like to get Rosetta Stone software to learn Dutch but only version 2 is available now. Version 3 is currently available in more “popular” languages like spanish and french (became available 9/28/2007). Does anyone know a date or approximate time when Version 3 will be available in Dutch, I’d like to get the newest version…. but how long will I have to wait? Thanks!!

There will be an intellect contest among the teams of the colleges, institutes and universities of our city. It will be a plain brain-ring game actually. The participants must know a lot of facts which are not that popular, also we must think quick, because there will be tricky questions too (like: “What is the speed of sound in the vacuum?”, “Calculate tangens from 90 degrees” [tg90° - I don't know how to say that in English properly])
I’d love to get a foreign name for the team. An English name also would be foreign, so feel free to recommend names in English. A Russian or Ukrainian name would be a way too trivial, because we live in Ukraine.
Here are some variants we have:
“Spertaj studentoj” (Esperanto - “clever students”)
“Spiro - spero” (Latin - “While I’m breathing, I’m hoping”)
“Боги Олимпа” (Russian - “Gods of the Olymp”, I don’t like this one)
Giving names in languages other than Esperanto and English, please, provide also transcription in IPA.
I’ll choose the best answer
Actually, it would be a good idea to provide the transcription for the English names too.
Well, the ring is used as a boxing term, because this is the only way it is used in Russian
How does “thon” sound? T-hon? Or is it closer to son, zon?
Didn’t I tell “for languages other than Esperanto and English”? I know how to pronounce “rapidaj cervegoj”, kvankam mi ne lernis la internacian lingvon longege

Like I want to learn Spanish and French but when I try to practice with my friends they say it’s annoying lol.

Anyone recommend Rosetta, Pimsleur or other program?

I’m a busy mom with a toddler with special needs who needs my constant attention.I already know english and spanish but I dont have a bachelor degree.I would like to learn and get a bachelor degree in a third language.I would like to work from home.
I live in the U.S.

My grandma is French and types like 3 words per minute, so I told her about speech to text software, and she needs it for French. She doesn’t know what it would be called. So does anyone know what speech to text is called in French? And if I went to, say Best Buy, and bought one of there speech to text disks, could she speak French with it?
