foreign language schools

Hi,
I’m a high school Junior and I’m planning to apply to Ivy League schools next year. I am going to finish my German class (I’ve taken the hardest course, the same one, two years in a row already), and I’m planning to drop German for next year. I’ve been wondering, will it affect my chances of getting into an Ivy League school/good university in the US if I don’t take a Foreign Language for four years?

foreign language schools

1. What is it?
2. Is it required?
3. What are the other options?
4. Do you enjoy it?
The reason is that my French, English, and Italian are fluent and I really need to fluent another language before I finish college. My Russian is OK and my Mandarin Chinese is somewhat legible. What do you think?

foreign language schools

See I am in the 11th grade in I still have not taking a foreign language which I have to have to go to the college I want to go to which is UWA but my high school will not put me in a foreign language so I was wondering if there is another way to take it.

Does 3 or 4 years of foreign language mean years you’ve taken the foreign language in your through out your entire education or just high school?

Because I the last Spanish class I’ve taken is Spanish 3 honors 10th grade, so is that qualified for 3 years of foreign language? or do is that considered 2 years?

Also is there a college application cut off if you don’t have the required amount of years of foreign language?

What if I am a foreigner who is a bilingual. I mean, I’ve already learnt English as my second language, and I know more of English that my native language. No kidding! Is it necessarily for me to take a foreign language class in high school? I’m going to be a junior this fall, and I’ve heard that I need two foreign language credits in order for me to go to a university. I’m not too late right?

foreign language schools

I’m going to be a high school junior next year and I have completed my two required years of foreign language. I plan to do take an extra math course if I drop the foreign language course, but many people have told me that colleges really want three years of foreign language. Any advice?

If colleges really do like three years, would they care if I took two years of foreign language in school, and then scored well on an AP test? (I know Chinese well enough, since I am Chinese.)

foreign language schools

I take German outside of school and if I get 3 or however many years a college requires to I still have to take a foreign language in school? I can still get to same amount of credits to graduate but will the schools look to see if I got those credits through a language or a different elective.

french language software

I need to read French for graduate school-but I want to be fluent in it, not just be able to read it. I thought about Rosetta Stone since I really would rather have a software program for the computer rather than a book and audio C.D. I don’t care much for the audio C.D.s. Any suggestions would be great. :)

foreign language schools

English is the universal language. I don’t think there is rarely use for any other language, especially in America. I wish that George Bush would add a new rule to the patriot act saying that it is illegal to speak any language in public other than English. And foreign languages should definitely not be taught in American schools. I don’t care if certain words can’t be translated into English. If something can’t be translated into English it is obviously not important. Not using foreign languages in public is really and national security issue. We can’t have people walking around speaking in savage languages it’s just not right. And what kind of message is sending to the children to teach them another language.
